Open-air sleep-out decks in Big Five territory

Three open-air platforms — Chalkley, Kingston and Tinyeleti — raised above the Sabi Sand bush, where you're dropped off before sunset with a lantern-lit dinner and left to sleep under a mosquito net and the stars. Between dusk and the morning pick-up it is just you, a radio, and whatever walks below. The catch: Not a standalone room: the treehouse is a one-night, weather-dependent sleep-out added to a Lion Sands lodge stay that already runs about $1,700+ per person a night.
