Ice & Snow

Kirkenes Snowhotel

Norway

Snow rooms + king crab safaris

Rooms carved from snow and ice on the Barents coast near the Russian border, held at minus four all year — the only snow hotel that never melts, with warm Sámi-inspired Gamme cabins alongside for the second night. Days fill with huskies, king-crab safaris and, from September to April, the aurora directly overhead. The catch: You sleep at a constant -4°C with bathrooms in a separate warm building, and nights are mostly sold as pricey activity packages (from ~14,000 NOK).
