North America's ice palace
North America's only ice hotel is sculpted from scratch every winter at Village Vacances Valcartier outside Québec City — snow-vaulted suites, an ice chapel, and the Celsius ice bar, all gone by April. Guests sleep on ice beds in expedition sleeping bags, with heated bathrooms, hot tubs and a warm fallback room nearby. The catch: Season-only (early January to late March), rooms sit around −3 °C, and you only occupy yours from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.
